A Weekend in Williamsburg

As much as I love going to far away places to explore, sometimes it's just as fun to explore places that are not so far away. Last week, the Mister and I loaded up the car and headed to Williamsburg for a quick two night getaway to celebrate our 2nd anniversary.  It was so nice to take a break after the home buying/moving/fixing up that has taken over our schedules over the last few months.

We set up at a small campground that had a beautiful, private pool.  It felt so luxurious to just lounge in a chair and read, or float on one of the fun pool floats I discovered at Dollar Tree.  That alone was worth the entire trip!  But, of course, no trip to Williamsburg is complete without a visit to Colonial Williamsburg.  We spent half our anniversary there, just walking around, enjoying the sights, and later having dinner at Shields Tavern.  It turned out that dinner was well timed, because just as we went in, a pretty big thunderstorm rolled over.  But by the time we had finished eating and walked back out again, it was already blown over.

Of course, there was also a bit of shopping at the Williamsburg Premium Outlets and the Yankee Candle Store.  Conveniently, Jamestown is also not that far away, so we managed to have a quick drive through there as well.

So, yes, it was a very brief two night trip, but it was also just enough to relax a bit and recharge our batteries before heading back to the adventures of home ownership.
