Why She's Plumb Worn Out

I'm fortunate enough to be one of those special-lucky people that was born and raised in the South.  I have a childhood full of memories from summer nights spent catching lightning bugs, riding my bicycle down long and winding dirt roads, and tall glasses of sweet iced tea waiting for me on the kitchen table.  I also grew up surrounded by quite a few memorable people- both within my family, and within my rural community.  And if you spend any amount of time with them, you will inevitably hear a few phrases that can only be heard in the South, like...

"They ain't got the sense that God gave a goose."

"I'm fixin' to..."

"...slower than molasses in winter."

But there was one that always especially made me smile- "plumb worn out".  Sometimes it was used in self-description ("I'm just plumb worn out!"), or other times it was used to describe something ("Those jeans are plumb worn out."). Either way, it's a uniquely Southern saying that left quite an impression on me.  So much of an impression, in fact, that I decided to name my business after it.

The three main principles that I try to represent are heritage, family, and tradition. And those words, "plumb worn out", tend to evoke all of those. But it can also be a fairly fitting description of me. (Literally.)

When I'm not keeping Plumb Worn Out going, I also spend time working as a preschool teacher, and as a bride-to-be planning my upcoming wedding. Some days, "plumb worn out" is exactly what I am!

So this blog is where I'm going to share some of those things with you...the things that make me who I am. And the things that just make me plain ol' plumb worn out. :)
